How to Export Data from Firm Central

This article shows you how to export your data from Firm Central to be imported into MyCase. The success of your data migration into MyCase depends on the quality of your data set.


This includes:

  • Exporting your data in .csv or .xlsx format

  • Ensuring headers are in the top row of the spreadsheet

  • Removing duplicate entries

If you are unsure how to format your data, please contact a Customer Support representative for assistance. If you are eligible for onboarding services, a Data Migration Specialist will assist you in formatting and organizing your data.

Note: Exporting your information is straightforward. Go to your Client, Contact or Matter list and click on the Export button at the top right corner of your screen. This opens an Excel file that you can easily manipulate.

Matters (Cases):

  1. Click Matters

  2. Click Export Matters (unlabelled button)

Contacts (Clients):

  1. Click Contacts

  2. Click Export Contacts (unlabelled button)

Unbilled Time Entries:

  1. Click Reports

  2. Click Time by User

  3. Select all users

  4. Provide a Date Range - This is limited to 365 days, so you may have to run the report multiple times.

  5. Select CSV from the dropdown on the far right side of the page

  6. Click Export

Unbilled Expense Entries:

  1. Click Reports

  2. Click Expense by Matter

  3. Select all matters

  4. Provide Date Range - This is limited to 365 days, so you may have to run the report multiple times.

  5. Select CSV from the dropdown on the far right side of the page

  6. Click Export

Accounts Receivable (Outstanding Balances):

  1. Click Reports

  2. Click Accounts Receivable

  3. Provide Date Range - This is limited to 365 days, so you may have to run the report multiple times.

  4. Select CSV from the dropdown on the far right side of the page

  5. Click Export

Events

1. Select Calendar from the main menu.

2. In the upper right corner, click on the Export button.

3. A pop-up window appears with options.

4. Select a date range to Export along with the types of Events and files associated with the date.

In the Firm Central calendar, you may need to run multiple exports. You should export files as a CSV file.
